Although I strive for excellence in everthing I do, I've learned to have fun while doing it.

After high school, I went into interior design as a career. I achieved professional membership in A.S.I.D. (American Society of Interior Designers). Interior design projects included corporate offices, banks, nursing homes, hospital offices, a dormitory, retail stores and signing. I earned an interior design degree and an architectural technology degree.

After working as an interior designer for some time, I realized that I had drifted away from drawing, sketching and painting and decided to shift my goals into a different direction. So I bought a Macintosh computer and started my own graphic design business creating ads, flyers and brochures. I also worked part-time for an advertising agency and a printing company.

In 1998, my family moved from Chicago, Illinois to Madison, Georgia and I continued running my business as Jan Marvin Graphic Design. I also worked at Denon Digital doing color separations for screen printing on CD's for companies such as Disney, Arista Records, Dreamcast Sega, and Earthlink. In 2004, I became a copy editor/page designer at The Eatonton Messenger/Lake Oconee News. I enjoyed the opportunity to be creative with newspaper tabs and design throughout the newspapers. In July, 2006, I helped to launch a new weekly newspaper, The Oconee Leader, in Watkinsville, Georgia. Responsibilities included logo design, ad design and page layout design. I also was the Creative Director of a magazine, Edible Atlanta. I did the complete layout and design of the magazine.

I recently learned video editing on Final Cut Pro and work on Premier Pro CS4. I am in the process of learning Adobe After Effects CS4 and Flash. I presently volunteer as a Technical Director at Seacoast Church.

I absolutely love it here in Mt. Pleasant. There is so much I want to do ... kayaking, crabbing and much more!

My personal interests include digital photography, acrylic painting and video editing. I was a member of the Athens Photography Guild and have had my photographs and paintings displayed in various shows and restaurants in the Athens, GA area.
